All good strategy starts with establishing goals and priorities for the coming year. This work informs what role insights could play in improving the chances of achieving success. We can focus on a specific constituent group like customers or donors, or dive into a particular function like product development or marketing and communications.

We then take it a step further to explore how they could benefit from outside insights. This could take the form of gathering tailored feedback from target groups through primary research, such as surveys or focus groups, or scanning published information sources to enhance their work to meet their goals.
The result of these efforts is an Insights Game Plan, which provides guidance for addressing insight gaps identified in the stakeholder conversations. The Game Plan includes detailed recommendations about the research methods that should be utilized for best results and suggested timelines.
